One pick after Jared Goff, the Eagles selected Carson Wentz from North Dakota State in yet another surprising blockbuster trade.

Eagles Received:

  • 2nd Overall Pick (2016)

  • Fourth-Round Pick (2017)

Browns Received:

  • 8th Overall Pick (2016)

  • 77th Overall Pick (2016)

  • 100th Overall Pick (2016)

  • 1st-Round Pick (2017)

  • 2nd-Round Pick (2018)

The Browns received an absolute abundance of draft picks through this trade, but unfortunately, in true Browns fashion, they happened to select a majority of busts. The Browns turned these picks into WR Corey Coleman, OT Shon Coleman, QB Cody Kessler, WR Ricardo Louis, S Derrick Kindred, WR Jordan Payton, OT Spencer Drango, S Jabrill Peppers, QB Deshone Kizer, CB Denzel Ward and HB Nick Chubb

Overall, this haul was still a success, netting them two franchise cornerstones in Chubb and Ward, along with a valuable piece in Peppers. However, what is disappointing about this haul is how many players the Browns missed. They traded away their pick to the Texans who ended up taking QB Deshaun Watson, along with passing up on many talented players including defensive tackles  Kenny Clark and Chris Jones

The Eagles, on the other hand, finally got their franchise quarterback in Carson Wentz… or so they thought. Wentz had some spectacular seasons for the Eagles from 2017-2019, even being in MVP contention for two of those years. However, he was heavily affected by injuries and wasn’t able to play in important games for the Eagles, including the Super Bowl run led by Nick Foles. Unfortunately, Wentz is no longer with the Eagles after being traded to the Indianapolis Colts this offseason. There is still hope for Wentz, as he has shown promise of being a top-tier quarterback, but for the Eagles, this trade was a major L.
