Another draft pick, likely a third quarterback in a row. The 49ers made an aggressive push to move from pick number 12 to get the third overall pick. The4 9ers gave up their first-rounder this year, next year and the year after that along with a third-round pick in 2022.

The consensus is that the 49ers made that move in order to upgrade their current quarterback, Jimmy Garoppolo, in order to get back to being an elite team in the league.

Questions have been thrown around about which quarterback the 9ers will take.

Justin Fields would be an intriguing option for the 49ers. Again, it wasn’t that long ago that Fields was held up there with Trevor Lawrence. in terms of QB talent in this draft.

Another intriguing option is North Dakota State Trey Lance. Lance only played in one game in 2020 due to COVID-19 but was amazing the year prior. While Lance has only one solid starting year under his belt, that year was spectacular.

For a while leading up to the Draft, there was the consensus that the top four quarterbacks were Lawrence, Wilson, Fields and Lance with a huge drop-off before we got to Alabama QB Mac Jones. However, since the 49ers have moved up, it appears that there very well may be a chance that the Crimson Tide prospect could be the third player off the board come Draft night.

Regardless of the pick, it is certain that the 49ers will take a quarterback with the third pick. If the 49ers traded up that much of their future to select a player like Ja’Marr Chase, they will have some explaining to do.
