With the announcement of the Jets trading quarterback Sam Darnold to the Carolina Panthers, this pick becomes obvious. Or maybe more obvious than it previously was. The majority of scouts and fans around the NFL believed that the New York Jets were going to draft Zach Wilson out of BYU to either compete with Sam Darnold for the starting job, or either trade Sam Darnold before the season.

Now, the Jets have a glaring need at quarterback and will undoubtedly be looking to fill that hole with the second-overall pick.

The question now turns into “which quarterback will the Jets take for the future?”

There is a rising consensus that Zach Wilson will be the guy.

However, there are still fans out there that believe that Justin Fields should be the pick here. It was not that long ago that Fields was the consensus number two quarterback in this draft.

Then the National Championship game happened and things have begun to change for Fields heading into the Draft.

Whether the Jets go with Fields or Wilson, one thing is for sure; the New York Jets will put their new quarterback in a much better situation than Darnold was in.
