The Dallas Cowboys faced a slew of injuries in 2020 and their record showed for it.

After bringing back quarterback Dak Prescott on a long-term deal, the Dallas Cowboys should have a great offense once again in 2021.

However, even when Dak was healthy early on in the season, the Cowboys had issues on the other side of the ball. It was apparent that the Cowboys needed huge upgrades on defense at many different levels.

At the start of the season, the Cowboys had a horrendous pass defense that contributed to their poor record. They brought in a pair of former Atlanta Falcons safeties in Demontae Kazee and Keanu Neal, though the latter may be playing more linebacker in the Cowboys’ scheme in 2021, along with former Viking safety Jayron Kearse.

Despite the editions, the Cowboys are still in need of help on the outside at corner. They were able to retain Jourdan Lewis this offseason but lost Chidobe Awuzie to the Cincinnati Bengals.

The Cowboys would be wise to invest a high pick in another corner to pair along with Trevon Diggs. Who would be better than Diggs’ former college teammate in Patrick Surtain II?

Many have Surtain ranked as the highest corner in the draft, and one of the best defensive players overall. The Cowboys would be wise to select the 6’2'“ corner out of Alabama inside the top ten.
