WrestleMania Backlash Predictions

Monday Night Raw

Damien Priest vs. The Miz

This feud must end, it has been going on since the night after Royal Rumble and it is time for Priest to move on to another feud. The high point of the feud was the match at WrestleMania. Bad Bunny put on a show at the show of the year and would have been a great way to end the feud. However, WWE continued to have the feud, including Priest suffering a questionable loss against The Miz on an episode of Raw. On Monday, Priest defeated John Morrison, for the right to select the stipulation for their match at WrestleMania Backlash. He selected a Lumberjack Match so that Miz cannot run from him. The Miz has done a good job of getting Priest over, but it looks like Miz will feud with Morrison and Priest might challenge for the U.S Championship soon.

Prediction: Priest gets a decisive victory.

Rhea Ripley vs. Asuka vs. Charolette Flair for the Raw Women’s Championship

Once again, Charolette Flair is thrown back in the title hunt shortly after returning. The build-up to this event has made one thing highly likely and that is that Asuka will not be walking out with the title. While Asuka and Ripley had a great match at WrestleMania, WWE could not resist going back to old reliable Flair. This will be an amazing match, as it contains three of the best wrestlers in the division. While Ripley should continue her run as Women’s Championship, one thing WWE has shown is a willingness to put the title on Flair.

Prediction: Flair once again captures the championship.

Bobby Lashley vs. Drew McIntyre vs. Braun Strowman for the WWE Championship

Bobby Lashley has been on a tear since he won the WWE Championship back in March. He has defeated both challengers in the last month, McIntyre at WrestleMania and Stowman a couple of weeks ago. Strowman has been booked without much direction recently, so it is unlikely that he wins it. McIntyre has held the WWE Championship for much of the past year and has run through his competition. So, for McInryew, it would be best to keep the title off him for a little while longer. Lashley should be allowed to continue to reign with the WWE Championship after it took him 16 years to acquire it.

Prediction: Lashley retains.

SmackDown Live

Bianca Belair vs. Bayley for the SmackDown Women’s Championship

The rivalry between Bianca Belair and Bayley has been going on for months now, from an obstacle course to now facing off for a Championship. Belair has been booked like the next big woman superstar and it culminated with her winning the SmackDown Women’s Championship at WrestleMania from Sasha Banks. If she were to lose the Championship in her first title defense, it would show they don’t have trust in Belair. Bayley held the Women’s Championship for all but five days from May of 2019, until October of 2020. That reign is the perfect reason as to why she is the perfect wrestler for Belair’s first title defense as Bayley carries the name recognition that will make Belair’s title reign a big deal.

Prediction: Bianca Belair retains her title in a highly competitive matchup.

The Dirty Dawgs (Dolph Ziggler and Bobby Rhode) vs Rey and Dominik Mysterio for the SmackDown Tag Team Championship

The Dirty Dawgs have had a solid run as champs since winning them from the Street Profits back in January. This Sunday they have a chance to prevent history as Rey and Dominik look to become the first father-son tag team to win the belts. Unfortunately for them, Sunday won’t be their day, as the Dirty Dawgs seem destined to lose the belts back to the Street Profits, who’ve been arguably the hottest team in the WWE since they were called up to the main roster back in 2019. However, the Mysterios should give them a great match due to their high-flying skills, it just won’t be enough for them to win the titles.

Prediction: The Dirty Dawgs retain

Roman Reigns vs Cesaro for the Universal Championship

Roman Reigns has been the most entertaining thing on SmackDown since returning at Summerslam last year. He has ruled over SmackDown and has had a hold over the Universal title since he won it at Payback. Cesaro has been arguably the second hottest star on SmackDown since January, having defeated Daniel Bryan and Seth Rollins multiple times. With his showings the past couple of weeks on SmackDown where he’s looked very much the equal of Roman Reigns, this Sunday could be his time to dethrone the champion. Unfortunately for Cesaro however, he won’t beat the Head of the table. With Jey Uso in his corner, and the looming question of Jimmy Uso, look for a surprise twist to happen this Sunday.

Prediction: Roman Reigns retains the belt after Jimmy joins his brother and Roman to form the most dominating force on SmackDown.
