The Heisman Trophy winner, DeVonta Smith, has had a phenomenal season this year at the University of Alabama.

In this historic season, he carried his team on his back all season long, scoring a team-high of 23 touchdowns along with 1,856 receiving yards on the season.

With the NFL Combine and the NFLDraft just a few months away, the elite wide receiver has one last chance to further impress NFL scouts.

The tremendous star has recently discussed the prospect of reuniting with his former Alabama quarterback, Tua Tagovailoa, in Miami. In the press conference during Senior Bowl week, Smith stated "We did talk about it. Talked about it would be nice just to run it back again. But not too much, but somewhat talking about it." 

With the Miami Dolphins holding the 3rd overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, the dynamic duo might be back together again after playing at Alabama. The duo has many iconic moments together from their Crimson Tide days. Back in the 2018 National Championship Game against the Georgia Bulldogs, Tua was able to connect with DeVonta Smith for a game-winning touchdown in double overtime, instantly creating an iconic moment for Alabama football that will go down in the college football history books as a game/moment to remember forever.

Just like the college days, Miami could be getting the same spark to their offense with this duo that Alabama was able to have due to their seamless chemistry. Even though Smith sustained a minor injury during the National Championship Game, he was able to explode in the first half with an amazing performance, going for 12 catches along with 215 receiving yards and 3 touchdowns in the victory over Ohio State. Despite being on the same team as players such as Henry Rugs III, Jerry Jeudy and Jaylen Waddle, Smith has proven that he can stand with the best of them and shine. Not only doing so consistently throughout the season, but more importantly, Smith has shown that he can perform on the biggest stage in college football.

The Dolphins head coach, Brian Flores, does not seem to be worried about the dislocated finger after evaluating Smith on film. When speaking about Smith, Flores stated, “This guy is a very, very good player. If you’re a good player, you can nitpick all you want about a guys’ size. A good player is a good player is a good player. He made big plays in the biggest games of the year.”

While being hot on every NFL teams’ radar leading up to the Senior Bowl, DeVonta Smith’s chances of being drafted by the Miami Dolphins remain extremely high. The Dolphins remain in prime position to snag Smith with the 3rd overall pick, as we expect two quarterbacks to be selected with the top two picks in this year's draft.

Combining DeVonta Smith with Tua would be very exciting for the Dolphins, but bringing the University of Alabama running back, Najee Harris, into the mix as well would make this one of the most unique, yet exciting, situations the NFL has seen in a while. The Dolphins have been chipping away at running back Najee Harris recently at the Senior Bowl.

They hold 4 picks in the top 50 of the NFL draft and it is very possible that the Dolphins could land a multitude of Alabama’s best offensive players to reunite with Tua Tagovailoa. The relationships of Alabama football and NFL teams get stronger as the years pass because of the great talent that it provides to the league.

Looking forward to being a Super Bowl contender in the near future, the Dolphins might have their eyes set in the right direction in order to add some elite talent, and excitement, to their roster.
