BREAKING: The Tampa Bay Buccaneers sign Leonard Fournette

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers add another huge offensive playmaker for 43-year old Tom Brady. On Wednesday, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers agreed in principal to a 1-year contract with former Jaguars running back Leonard Fournette.  The 1-year deal is worth up to $3.5 million.

Leonard Fournette was waived by the Jacksonville Jaguars on Monday and cleared waivers and was allowed to sign wherever he wanted. There were talks that the Patriots has interest in the former 4th overall pick, amongst other teams, but it was ultimately the Tamp Bay Buccaneers who got the deal done.

Fournette immediately becomes the most talented back for the Buccaneers. He will join Ronald Jones, rookie Keyshawn Vaugh, LeSean McCoy, and Dare Ogunbowale.

While Ronald Jones is coming off of his best year as a pro, he has yet to live up to his second round status for the Bucs. Tampa Bay added talented running back out of Vanderbilt in Vuaghn in the 3rd round of this years draft. However, Vaughn has missed much of training camp due to injury. LeSean McCoy is coming off of his least productive year as a pro in which he was inactive for most of Kansas City’s Super Bowl run. While Ogunbowale was a team captain for Tampa Bay in 2019, he finished with only 17 yards on the ground on 11 carries.

After coming off of his best year in the NFL, in which he accounted for over 1,600 total yards of offense, Fournette immediately finds himself in a much better position than he was in in Jacksonville. At just 25-years old, Fournette now has a chance to play with a Hall of Fame quarterback for a chance to win a Super Bowl. Fournette joins Tom Brady, Rob Gronkowski, Chris Godwin, Mike Evans, O.J. Howard, and Cameron Brate on offense as Tom Brady looks to win his 6th Super Bowl, his first with the Buccaneers.
