Predicting the Unpredictable WWE Money in the Bank

This Sunday, WWE will have its 12th annual Money in The Bank pay-per-view event. This is just the second pay-per-view that will be in front of a live audience since the pandemic began, and the first since WWE announced that they will be leaving the Thunderdome for good and returning to a live tour schedule. There are six matches on the card and below I predict who will come out on top.

Men’s Money in the Bank Match: Ricochet vs. John Morrison vs. Riddle vs. Drew McIntyre vs. Big E vs. Kevin Owens vs. King Nakamura vs. Seth Rollins

Last year’s Money in the Bank was highly creative due to the circumstances. This year, however, I think will be the best in the last couple of years due to the return of a live audience. Most of the wrestlers in this match have been known to incorporate high-flying moves into their arsenal, but this match was made for someone like Ricochet, and we already have seen what Morrison is capable of in ladder matches in the past. This match will be the most exciting on the card as we hope to see some innovative ways that wrestlers will use the ladders in these matches.

Drew McIntyre is the only wrestler in this match who has been in the main event scene in the past couple of months. McIntyre and Rollins have the least to gain from winning this match, but they add big-name star power to this matchup.

The most intriguing person in this match is Big E. Since being drafted to Smackdown, he had a great run as Intercontinental champion before losing the belt to Apollo Crews at WrestleMania. The loss may pave the way for a run in the Universal Title picture and even potentially capturing his first world title since being in the WWE.

Riddle is another interesting prospect to grab the briefcase, seeing as his partner, Randy Orton, did not qualify for the match. That will open the possibility of Orton interfering to help his partner win the briefcase.

King Nakamura is coming out of a dull feud with Baron Corbin and he can use this opportunity to get the shot he should have gotten at the Universal Title back at the Royal Rumble. However, Roman Reigns cost him, and he still has not gotten a match for the title.

The star of this match will be Ricochet, even though he probably will not win the briefcase, but with his amazing aerial game, he will make some highlights.

Prediction: Big E wins the briefcase.

Raw Women's Championship Match: Rhea Ripley (C) vs. Charlotte Flair

With the talent involved, you would not think this feud would be as bad as it has been. Their match from last year at WrestleMania was great, but at Hell in a Cell, their match ended by way of disqualification. Which WWE loves to do in order to set up rematches in the future. However, this is a feud that most wish would be over.

Ripley is a great young talent and while she should win, I do not believe that she will be walking out of Money in The Bank with the title. The WWE has shown that if there is one superstar currently that will win the title, it is Charlotte. With Becky Lynch’s return reportedly set to happen within the next month or two, that gives them a feud to revisit from history.

Prediction: Charlotte walks out 13-time Women’s Champion.

WWE Championship Match: Bobby Lashley (C) ith MVP vs. Kofi Kingston with Xavier Woods

Kofi Kingston has been on a roll recently. He has picked up a victory on multiple occasions over Lashley within the past month. Unfortunately for him, Lashley has refocused himself on winning matches and blocking out the distractions. That spells bad news for Kofi as Lashley will be looking to prove that his losses have been flukes. Lashley’s going to dominate this match and retain his WWE Championship.

Prediction: Lashley retains.

BOLD PREDICTION: Big E cashes in the briefcase on Lashley after saving Woods and Kingston from a post-match beatdown and wins the WWE Championship.

Women’s Money in the Bank Match: Asuka vs. Naomi vs. Alexa Bliss vs. Nikki A.S.H vs. Liv Morgan vs. Zelina Vega vs. Natalya vs. Tamina

The buildup to this match has been all over the place. From tag team matches to fatal four ways, to replacements, there has been no obvious pick leading up to this. When it comes to the women’s division in WWE, there never seems to be much direction as to what is happening and no matter who wins this match, there does not seem to be a clear storyline for them with Charlotte and Rhea probably still going to be in the women’s title picture and Bianca Belair seeming as though she is going to hold her title for another couple of months.

With that said, for the past month, Liv Morgan has been on a mini hot streak, having defeated Carmella multiple times and the recently returned Zelina Vega. I believe that was the beginning of a strong run for her as a singles wrestler and it will continue with her winning the briefcase.

Prediction: Liv Morgan wins the briefcase.

Raw Tag Team Championship Match: AJ Styles and Omos (C) vs. The Viking Raiders.

Styles and Omos are a unique tag team, and so far, they have looked dominant whenever Omos is in the match. However, the Viking Raiders have picked up a victory over this team last month in a six-man tag match. Ivar recently defeated Styles in a one-on-one match on Raw. As great as Styles has been in his time in WWE, he is the weak link of the team. If the Raiders can isolate him from Omos they will be walking away with the tag team titles.

However, that will not happen and eventually, Omos will get in the match, and it is over for the Raiders when he does.

Prediction: Styles and Omos retain the Raw Tag Team titles.

Universal Championship Match: Roman Reigns (C) with Paul Heyman vs. Edge

This is the match we were supposed to get at WrestleMania before the inclusion of Daniel Bryan. The Head of the Table will defend his Universal Championship vs the Rated R superstar one on one this time around.

This contest is my pick for match of the night.

Edge has Reigns' number over the past couple of weeks as he has gotten the upper hand on him in the few encounters they have had since Edge has returned, including making Reigns tap out after their six-man tag match was over on the go-home episode of SmackDown. However, the Head of the Table has been dominant since returning last year at Summerslam. With the Usos on his side, he will be too much for Edge to overcome once again.

Prediction: Roman Reigns retains the Universal Championship.

SmackDown Tag Team Championship Match: Rey and Dominick Mysterio (C) vs. The Usos

The first-ever father-son tag team duo looks to hold off one of the greatest teams in WWE history.

The Usos have not held tag team gold in over two years and with Jimmy finally back from injury, the Usos look primed and ready to go back on top of the tag team mountain. This will be a great match, but the Usos will come out on top as the bloodline will reign supreme over SmackDown.

Prediction: The Usos become 7-time tag team champions.
