My Professional Success Mantra

Blair Waldorf, Harvey Specter, Lady Danbury, and Eloise Bridgerton are icons of success and power. They are characters that not only inspire you to be better but also remind you exactly what you are capable of.

For those moments when things are falling apart, I keep some of their life by quotes in the notes app on my phone. Here are some of them:

If you desire the sun and moon, all you have to do is go out and shoot.” - Eloise Bridgerton.

Firstly, stop doubting yourself!

Everyone who ever did something amazing was scared. For centuries it was impossible for humans to fly, so we created airplanes. Then it was impossible for humans to reach the stars, so we built rockets. Then it was impossible for humans to go beyond the Earth’s orbit, so we went to the moon.

Over history, people have done the unthinkable.

We are already living the impossible, so why wouldn’t you be able to do or reach what you want?

Like every great general, I have contingency plans.” - Blair Waldorf.

It is a well-known fact that life doesn’t usually go as planned, so it is important to remember that if something fails, it has -and can be- repaired or replaced. Always be prepared for the unexpected.

Queens aren’t born at the top, they climb their way up in heels...”- Gossip Girl.

When starting a new project or a new stage of your life, you may sometimes feel insignificant or small -especially when you compare it to that of the people you have chosen to admire.

But, the truth is, at the beginning, there was no crowd, no admiration, no easy road.

They simply thought the only way to go was up.

Here’s my advice: Have a little faith, and if that doesn’t work, have a lot of mimosas.” - Blair Waldorf.

It is no secret that faith moves mountains, after all, wars have been fought in the name of ideals and beliefs -even if the price has been great. But that’s the thing with faith, it is not tangible, and sometimes it will leave us defeated and lost.

That’s why, when faith has failed us, a sip of “what the hell? let’s have some fun!” is the best solution.

Life is not a list of accomplishments, but a series of moments you remember laughing so hard your belly hurts -and I don’t know if you’ve noticed, they usually start with: “oh! We were so screwed…”

I knew I would have to step into the light someday… So… I sharpened my wit, my wardrobe, and my eye, and I made myself the most terrifying creature in any room I entered.” - Lady Danbury.

Everyone has insecurities. They may be physical or psychological, but they are always there -all forces come in pairs.

For creation, there’s destruction.

For pain, there’s joy.

For potential, there’s doubt.

So you can be intimidated by those who seem fearless or become one of them.

Win a no-win situation by rewriting the rules.” - Harvey Specter.

This life you have is yours and no one but yourself can dictate its rules.

I’m not telling you to commit a crime (I’ll appeal to plausible deniability if you do) but that you always have a choice.

Rewrite the rules.

Time is free but priceless. You can’t own it, but you can use it.” - Harvey Specter.

Every second, every instant, every minute will be gone. But that’s what makes it valuable. You’ll never live this moment again, you’ll never have it back.

Enjoy it.

Let them hate, just make sure they spell your name right.” - Harvey Specter.

People like to talk, especially if you are trying something new. So, let them talk, let them judge. At the end of the day, they are remembering your name and the footprint you leave behind.

They thought I worked 100 hours a day. Now… no one questions my ability to get the job done. Get it through your head, first impressions last.” -Harvey Specter.

Do not underestimate the power your appearance and behavior have. In the real world, the first impression you give is what will take you to the door of opportunity.

The way you dress will tell people how seriously they can take you.

The way you handle small tasks will tell people how you’ll handle more responsibility.

Who you present will dictate who you can become.

When your back is against the wall, break the goddamn thing down.” -Harvey Specter.

Because you’ll find yourself in that position one day, but the important thing isn’t to win a battle but to win the war.
