In a very unusual move, the Miami Dolphins released a player that they drafted a few months back right in the middle of training camp.

Curtis Weaver was a 5th round pick for the Dolphins back in April and looked to make a huge splash as a rookie edge rusher for the team. Weaver was injured in this past Saturday practice for the Dolphins, leading to the team deciding to waive Weaver with an injury designation. Curtis Weaver will be able to be claimed by any team who puts in a waiver for him.

At the young age of 22 years old, it is odd to see the Dolphins move on from a promising young player. Not many 5th round players get cut before they even get the opportunity to step onto the field for the team that drafted them. Not to mention the fact that Weaver was seen as a huge steal for the Dolphins in the later rounds of the Draft. There were many scouts that had very high grades on the edge rusher out of Boise State, some even giving him a first round grade.

We will see if any team decides to claim the injured rookie.
